5 Months and Growing...

Today our beautiful little butterbean is 5 months old. She can now sit by herself for a few minutes and push herself into a sitting position. Sometimes we find that she is up on all fours and we can see her mind working on how to get the toy a foot away from her. It won't be long now, I know. Soon she will be crawling everywhere and we will be running after her. Last night she fell asleep and then tried to sit up in her crib and fell asleep bent over with her legs under her. It was too funny.
We all have varying degrees of colds as Naomi got one at the new daycare she is going to. She and I are almost over ours, but Daddy is still stopped up. Oh well. She needs to build her immune system so I am sure there will be more buggies.
Her next well baby visit is in October. I can't believe she will be six months old!

4 Months and Counting

I have been very lax in posting images. Anyway she had her four month checkup on August 13th and she was 26 inches long, which put her in the 90th percentile for height and weighed 13.9 lbs, which put her in the 10th percentile in weight. I was a little concerned about her weight, but the pediatrician was fine with her. She said she loves to see babies who are normal size and firmly believes that our little butterbean is NOT a failure to thrive infant. She is just a very long and skinny baby. She had four shots and boy did I tear up at hearing her cry in pain. This time it took a while to calm her down. She is fine now and trying to crawl. E and I know, it won't be long soon.
Oh. We have also started her on rice cereal and stage one foods. She likes everything but squash. Next week we will try her on peaches, yum.

Naomi's First Photoshoot
Last weekend we had a friend and self professed photo goddess come over and snap a few pictures of Naomi. It was her first photo shoot and she was a very good girl. She did get a little fussy at the end, but who can blame her when Mommy and some lady was moving her around and snapping pictures. The pictures turned out great. I will send a link to the picture gallery so that everyone can see the proofs. Here is a slide show until then...

2 Month Check-Up.

Last Sunday, Butterbean was officially two months old and she has definitely grown.
She is now wearing size one diapers and is smiling for Mommy and Daddy. I took a picture to compare the diapers and all I can say is wow. I have also had to pack away all of her newborn onesies. She cannot fit into them anymore, she is to long for them.
She is now wearing size one diapers and is smiling for Mommy and Daddy. I took a picture to compare the diapers and all I can say is wow. I have also had to pack away all of her newborn onesies. She cannot fit into them anymore, she is to long for them. Yesterday she had her 2 month check up and the doctor is very pleased with her progress. Naomi is in the 50th percentile for weight and 80th percentile for height. She weighs 10 lbs 11 oz and is 23.5 inches long...basically she is a long, skinny baby. I talked to the doctor about her upset bowels and long feedings. She has been so fussy and gassey, it did not matter if I give her breastmilk or formula. The one thing we could do was to find a new formula so we tried several different ones, which Naomi didn't agree with any of them except for the lactose free formula. The doctor was ok with our changing her formula as she believes that Naomi is lactose intolerant. So far so good, everything seems to be better with her bowels and she has been drinking a full 4.5 oz of the Enfamil LactoFree Lipil. As far as the long feedings go, the doctor said that we could try to change the nipple to the next size up. If she chokes then we may need to just enlarge the hole in the ones we are using now. Then the nurse came in with four vaccine shots and an oral vaccine (2nd HepB, IPV, DTaP, Hib-PRPOMP, and PLV). She was fine with the oral vaccine. She screamed with the shots. Daddy held her hand and she squeezed his finger so hard I thought it might pop off. She forgot about the shots soon after and took her next feeding and the ones after just fine although she has been running a mild fever so we have been giving her Tylenol.
She has met most of her developmental milestones so far. She holds her head temporarily erect, she gives social smiles, she looks at faces, and she definitely responds to loud sounds. She needs to work on grasping her rattles and holding them briefly in her hands and cooing in response to voices. I can't wait for her to start babbling and rolling from side to side...ok maybe I can wait for the rolling thing.
Her next appointment is in August.

Mother's Day

Yesterday was a good day although Butterbean was a little unhappy and fussy. She didn't get much sleep, but that is because she took her time to eat and during her feedings she would stop to cry even though we burped her often. She is definitely off of any kind of schedule we were trying to get her on. I am not sure of why all the fussies but we'll find out when Mommy calls the pediatrician for some advice.
Apart from that she is definitely growing like a weed. I noticed when I changed her diaper the other day that she is getting longer. Some of her onesies are a little tight. Looks like some of her clothes may need to be put away soon.
